Description
A reenactor dressed in pioneer clothing will tell a first person
perspective of his or her experiences as a settler. You will have the
opportunity to see and touch items and tools common to the pioneering
days, as well as, question the interpreter as though they were
interviewing a person the from 19th century.
Settlers that came
to Oklahoma during the land runs needed reliable tools and equipment as
they struggled to work the land and “prove up” their claims. To “prove
up” the claim a settler must have made improvements to the land and
have lived on it for five years. At the end of this time, a legal title
to the land was granted to the settler.
